( probably Vietnamese  – either born in Asia or anchor babies. so what is with Asians? They are thought of as passive and law-abiding  but now it seems they are cannibals and be-headers and criminals all around. Of course , in past generations no one thought they were the castrated nice people , it’s just been the last generation.

OSP Arrests Two Car Break-In Suspects on OSU Campus; Nine Other Incidents Unsolved (Photos)
Oregon State Police – 01/29/09

An arrest Wednesday evening of two Corvallis-area men by an Oregon State Police (OSP) trooper on the Oregon State University (OSU) campus related to a reported vehicle break-in led to the discovery of a small marijuana grow in one of the suspect’s apartment. There is no evidence connecting the two suspects to nine earlier vehicle break-ins on campus and OSP is seeking information to identify the suspect(s) responsible for those incidents.According to OSP Lieutenant Jeff Lanz, on January 28, 2009 at 8:00 a.m. victims began calling in to report their vehicles were broken into and some property stolen. In total, nine separate incidents were confirmed occurring in a two-block area on the south section of the OSU campus. The initial investigations indicate the break-ins happened between 2:00 a.m. and 3:00 a.m. when vehicle windows were broken out to gain access inside. Some of the property stolen included a media projector, GPS, car stereos, and music CDs. Some victims reported hearing audible car alarms during the mentioned time period but thought it was not their vehicle. At approximately 7:00 p.m. a report was received from a citizen reporting two suspicious persons were in the general vicinity of the OSU parking structure and broke into a vehicle. The reporting citizen kept the two suspects in sight as they walked away from the area. OSP Trooper Orly Johnson responded to the call and with the citizen’s help located the suspects and took both into custody without incident.

The two suspects were identified as ALVIN TOAN PHAM, age 21, and YOUNG DAE HWANG, age 25. They live at separate apartments in Corvallis and are Linn Benton Community College students.

In following up on the earlier vehicle break-in reports, Trooper Johnson received consent to search PHAM’s apartment in the 500 block of NW 19th Street where he found eight small marijuana plants and equipment associated with manufacturing and distribution of marijuana.

Both were lodged at the Benton County Jail. PHAM was arrested for Unlawful Entry into a Motor Vehicle, Attempted Unlawful Entry into a Motor Vehicle, and Unlawful Manufacturing and Distribution of a Controlled Substance. HWANG was arrested for Unlawful Entry into a Motor Vehicle and Attempted Unlawful Entry into a Motor Vehicle.

OSP is interested to hear from anyone with information to identify the suspect(s) involved in the earlier multiple vehicle break-ins and thefts. Anyone with information is asked to contact Lieutenant Lanz at (541) 737-3010.
