A Vancouver, Washington man was arrested Saturday afternoon by Oregon State Police (OSP) on several charges including DUII following a brief attempt to elude on Interstate 5 in the Salem area.
According to OSP Sergeant Bob Charpentier, on March 20, 2010 at approximately 4:40 p.m. OSP Northern Command Center dispatch received reports of a possible intoxicated driver southbound on Interstate 5 near Salem. An OSP trooper spotted the Chevrolet Blazer southbound near milepost 262 south of Brooks and attempted to stop it. The driver continued without stopping, weaving in all three lanes for four miles before stopping.
Subsequent investigation led to the arrest of FAISSAL FEHAQ AL MELIKY, age 26, from Vancouver, Washington for Felony Attempt to Elude in a Vehicle, DUII, and Reckless Driving. He was also cited to appear Possession of less than an Ounce of Marijuana. He was lodged in Marion County Jail.
