Deputies arriving at the scene learned that the suspect stole a half case of beer and ran out of the store. The clerk chased the suspect out of the store and north on SW 178th Ave.

The suspect was riding a bicycle and carrying the beer when the clerk caught up to him and a fight ensued. The clerk managed to get the suspect off of his bike and at some point during the fight the suspect stabbed the clerk in the upper torso. The clerk stopped fighting and the suspect fled on foot northbound on SW 170th Avenue, leaving the bike and the beer behind.

Sheriff’s Deputies quickly surrounded the area and used two K9 units to search for the suspect. The dogs tracked the suspect for a distance, but neither one was able to find him. The Sheriff’s forensic team responded to analyze the crime scene and seize the in-store surveillance video. Sheriff’s detectives responded to assist with the investigation.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male in his late teens to early 20’s, wearing a black and white plaid shirt and dark shorts. Detectives are asking the public for any information that might lead to the identification of the suspect in this case.

The victim was taken by Metro West ambulance to Emanuel Hospital. Although he was stabbed numerous times in the upper torso, he was very lucky and suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
