The investigation into the hit & run crash that resulted in the death of Morales Singer is on-going. Marion County detectives have recovered a black 1990 Honda Accord, believed to be the vehicle involved in the fatal crash. The vehicle was missing the passenger side mirror and had considerable front end damage. It is being held as evidence. Detectives are now seeking assistance in locating the primary suspect. He is identified as Jake Montano, who turned 19 years old just days before the crash that killed Morales. Montano is described as being 6-0, 170, with short black hair and brown eyes. He has a large tattoo on the right side of his neck that says “Aaliyah” (photo attached). He has lived with relatives in the northeast section of Salem, but his current address is unknown. There are no known vehicles associated with Montano at this time. Supervisor of the Criminal Investigation Unit, Sgt. Gerry Adcock added, “The Singer family has suffered greatly from this tragedy. We hope that Mr. Montano will do the right thing and turn himself in without delay. We are prepared to dedicate whatever resources are necessary to bring about his capture.” Anyone with information about his whereabouts can contact either Detective Mathieu LaCrosse or Detective Matthew Wilkinson at 503.540.8079, or 911. – – – – – – – – – – – – Working from debris found at the hit & run scene, Sr. Deputy Bennett has identified the suspect vehicle as a 1990 Honda Accord, 4-door sedan. The color of the vehicle is not known at this time, but additional updates will be released as information develops. – – – – – – – – – – – – – – A 37-year old father of three was struck and killed in a vehicle-pedestrian crash in northeast Salem Wednesday evening. Morales Singer was hit as he walked along the roadway on 47th Avenue NE in Salem at about 11:30pm. Deputies arrived to find Singer lying in the roadway near Edwin Court NE. Medics were called, but he was pronounced dead at the scene from his injuries. The scene was a street with minimal lighting, and it was extremely foggy at the time of the crash. Singer was reportedly returning home from Shooter’s Café & Saloon on nearby Silverton Road. He was wearing a light colored shirt and tan shorts. The driver of the vehicle that struck and killed Singer did not stop to render aid or report the crash. Deputies are unable to specifically identify the vehicle make and model at this time. Debris located at the scene indicates that the vehicle will likely have damage to the right front, right side, and possibly the hood. The vehicle will be missing a right side mirror (photo attached). The right front headlight was also destroyed and there may be windshield damage to the car as well. The Marion County CRASH Team will be conducting a forensic investigation into the crash. Senior Deputy Martin Bennett is the primary investigating deputy. Anyone with information about the make/model of the vehicle or the identification of the driver can call the Marion County Sheriff’s Office Tip line at 503.540.8079.Attached Media Files: Suspect Jake Montano, 19 yrs old , tattoo of
