E-Verify Victory in Supreme Court -Call Congress Must Pass Everify

Now Our Victory in U.S. Supreme Court Changes Everything! Now Congress Under Great Pressure to Pass Mandatory E-Verify Nationwide Help NumbersUSA Cross the Finish Line on Stopping Illegal Immigration

Last week we won one of our biggest victories EVER at NumbersUSA! (Once again, we relied on the generous support of our donors. Thank you!)

In the case of Chamber of Commerce v. Whiting, the Supreme Court ruled that states can revoke the licenses of businesses that do not use the federal E-Verify database to keep illegal aliens out of U.S. jobs. This means that the 13 states that already require at least some employers to use E-Verify are free to enforce those requirements. The ruling also paves the way for additional states to make their own E-Verify laws, helping to free up the estimated 7 million U.S. jobs that are currently held by illegal aliens for American citizens and legal residents. Six months ago, I asked our NumbersUSA members to stand behind us as we hired special legal counsel to defend the State of Arizona as it was being sued by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and U.S. Justice Department. Well, the result of your donations was one of the most successful court rulings to significantly address illegal immigration in our lifetime. This ruling is a perfect example of how we apply your donations in the most effective way possible! The open-borders coalition is sure to use the Supreme Court’s decision as motivation to increase their already powerful lobbying pressure on Capitol Hill and the Administration. We’ll need more contributions to help counter the millions of dollars behind the pro amnesty movement, but we’ll need your support to make this happen. If you can, please contribute. In fact, the pro-amnesty voices in the Administration helped shape the opinion that states could not enforce immigration law using the federal E-Verify database. We disagreed and hired a specialized attorney to write an amicus brief to file with the Court with our arguments. And by a 5-3 margin, the Supreme Court agreed with us, that businesses can have their licenses revoked for knowingly hiring illegal aliens. Now this victory sets the tone for an E-Verify standoff in Congress starting this summer! You know we at NumbersUSA have been a champion of both state and federal mandatory E-Verify legislation for years. Guess what? I think national E-Verify can happen — this year. When NumbersUSA held its 4th Annual Spring Symposium for our most generous supporters this month, Rep. Lamar Smith (R-TX), Chairman of the House Judiciary, spoke to us and said our forces are very close to victory. He’s determined to “move” legislation this year to make federal E-Verify mandatory. (Want to hear him yourself? We have prepared a 13-minute video highlight reel. To watch this fascinating video on your computer, click the link on the thank you page.) Click to Donate Now At our Spring Symposium, we had a lot more encouragement about mandatory E-Verify. Rep. Heath Shuler (D-NC) explained what he was doing to make E-Verify into law. (He’s on the highlight reel too.) This symposium was our best ever. Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach talked about his work in assisting states like Arizona, Georgia and Missouri to tighten their laws concerning illegal aliens. (He’s on the reel.) Rep. Steve King (R-IA) told a hilarious story about President Obama and the moat on the El Paso section of the Southern border. Plus, NumbersUSA President Roy Beck explains how this year is fundamentally different from every other year since our founding 15 years ago. (All on the highlight reel.) Paul, we’re so close to victory in many areas. We’ve got the pro-amnesty forces on the run! Don’t let up on your financial support when we’re winning. We can’t let up in our efforts and see the other side regain ground. Click to Donate Now There are four ways to give: 1) On-line credit card (we take all major cards).
