The Vancouver Safe Streets Task Force is seeking the public’s assistance with locating a wanted person, Miguel Andrew Torres-Izazaga.(10/23/90) Miguel may be using the name “Angel” Izazaga or “Stomper”.

There is currently a warrant for his arrest for Attempt Murder II and Robbery for an incident that happened on December 14th in the 4200 block of E 18th Street. Miguel is suspected of assaulting a resident at this location during the course of a home invasion robbery. The victim who wishes not to be identified suffered serious injuries and has since been released from the hospital.

Miguel is affiliated with a local street gang and has a violent past. If you know of his whereabouts do not approach or detain and call 911. Miguel is believed to be in the Beaverton Oregon area with significant ties to Vancouver.

12-16-09, at 3:00 pm Deputy Jeremy Landers stopped a Honda Civic on Highway 22 near Lancaster drive for a traffic violation (no front license plate). As Deputy Landers approached the vehicle, the driver sped away. Members of the Marion County Street Crimes Unit and Keizer Community Response Unit were in the area and responded to assist Deputy Landers. The Honda Civic drove to the Gaffin Road exit and headed back toward Southeast Salem and as the driver turned onto Cordon Road, the vehicle went into on-coming traffic. Due to the recklessness of the driver, and potential risk to the community, Deputy Landers terminated the pursuit. A short time later, deputies located a vehicle in the ditch and the driver indicated he had swerved to avoid a head-on collision with the driver of the Honda.

A short time later the Honda was located on Oakmont Court and State Street. As deputies and Keizer Police begin to approach the vehicle, the driver and two passengers got out and fled on foot. The driver later identified as, Jack Edgar Watt, (35) of Salem fled with a duffle bag in hand. One of the passengers later identified as, Josue Xavier Garcia, (18) fled with a laptop computer in hand. Both were eventually apprehended, after climbing over fences and going through citizen’s yards in an attempt to get away. Watt also tried to get rid of a loaded .357 revolver by dropping it as he ran from the police, but it was recovered in a citizen’s yard. Deputy Wollenschlaeger and his K-9 partner Yo were called out to assist with tracking a third suspect, but they were unable to locate him.

Deputies located 4.25 pounds of marijuana inside the duffel bag (estimated street value $13,000). The plates on the vehicle did not belong to the Honda and a search of the vehicle identification number (VIN) revealed it was stolen. Watt was arrested on charges of Unlawful Use of Vehicle, Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, Theft I, Attempt to Elude (Vehicle), Attempt to Elude (Foot), Reckless Endangering, Reckless Driving, Felon Possession Firearm, Hit and Run, Delivery of Marijuana and Possession of Marijuana. Garcia, was arrested for Unlawful Use of Vehicle and both were transported to the Marion County Jail.

A man  Mexican Crossdressor from the Yakima, Washington area was arrested Tuesday night after robbing a Wells Fargo Bank in Salem.

The incident began at 1:21 pm on December 15 when Salem Police were dispatched to a robbery that had just occurred at the Wells Fargo Bank at 3245 Market St NE in Salem. It was reported that a lone Hispanic  Wetback male adult approached a teller and demanded money, escaping on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.

 

 The suspect was described as wearing what appeared to be facial makeup and lipstick.As Salem Police Officers and FBI agents responded to the scene, it was reported that a witness had seen the suspect getting into a red Geo Metro vehicle with Washington license plates. Salem Police officers were checking the area when they located what they believed to be the suspect vehicle parked near the Super 8 Motel located at 1288 Hawthorne Ave NE. Further investigation led them to a room at the Holiday Lodge Hotel at 1400 Hawthorne Ave NE where they contacted 21-year old Aurelio Madrid Venegas and another subject.Subsequent investigation led to the arrest of Venegas on a charge of Robbery In The Second Degree. The second subject was not arrested for this incident.

On December 16, 2009 at 7:01pm, two pedestrians were struck and injured by a vehicle while crossing Ferry St. at Liberty St. SE.

Michael Kucera, 24 from Portland and Rikki Robb, 19 from Salem were crossing Ferry St, north bound in the crosswalk at Liberty St. SE when they were struck by a car driven by Christopher Hernandez, 32 from Salem. Hernandez was driving a 2003 Hyundai. Hernandez was stopped on liberty preparing to turn left onto Ferry St. When the signal changed to green he proceeded into the intersection and crosswalk, striking both Kucera and Robb in the cross walk.

Kucera and Robb were both transported to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries received during the collision.

Christopher Hernandez was cited for Driving while Suspended and Failure to Yield to a Pedestrian in a Crosswalk.

This is the seventh pedestrian vs motor vehicle collision since December 9th. Darkness and weather conditions played a role in all seven of these collisions. Motorists and pedestrians should use more caution when driving and walking at night, especially during winter weather conditions which limits visibility. Additionally pedestrians should consider wearing light or bright colored clothing, day or night, to make them more visible to motorists.

Its interesting to me how many people in the Slavic community are targeted for “abusing” their children. Their is a couple in my church who was one of these targets. And do you know what happened to them? The judge apologized to them for the the grief the system had caused their small family. You see, she went to see their 14 month baby’s family doctor. The child was very ill and the doctor prescribed him medication. On the warning label, it clearly stated possible side affects. When she brought the child back in when she noticed bruises covering his body, the doctor automatically called CPS and her baby was taken away from her. Now for all you smart Americas who are thinking that that was her excuse, i ask why she would bring the child in to be seen if she was at fault, knowing what could happen? she went through months and months of court dates, trials, and lawyers. For what? An apology. Now i see story’s on the news of mothers drowning their children in bath tubs and cutting their boyfriends into pieces and flushing them down the toilet (that’s a true story by the way) Now about what % do you think, of all those ppl, are Slavic?  oh and by the way, Everyone immigrated to America at one time or another, other that Native Americans. I spoke with an Iranian couple who were shocked when an Iranian friend struck his small daughter on the  face and she was put in foster care. In our country , they said, the man can do whatever he likes to family members.

 

SALEM, Ore. – In what Department of Human Services officials called a “horrible” case of child abuse, the parents of seven kids were sentenced Thursday to more than seven years in prison.

 

The state recommended five years for 40-year-old Oleksander Kozlov and 39-year-old Lyudmila Kozlov, but the Salem judge instead gave them the longer sentence of 7 years and three months, each.

 

The Koslovs were found guilty last week, of nine counts of child abuse. It was their own children who turned them in, calling 9-1-1 from their Lancaster Drive home and telling officers they had been abused since their family arrived in the United States from the Ukraine in 2003. Marion County deputies said they saw “significant evidence” of abuse on the 15, 14 and 13-year-old, and the kids were taken into protective custody.

Following that investigation, police and DHS officials went to the home and took four other children, ages 11, 10, 9 and a six-day old infant in to custody and arrested the couple.

The children told police the abuse sometimes involved hitting them with a looped wire, a belt, spoons, a leather leash or even sticks from the yard.

The two were charged with assault, criminal mistreatment, coercion and unlawful use of a weapon.

The couple’s attorney said there will be an appeal to the seven-year sentence.

Here it is again! People who come to America for a better life! But rather than adapting to the ways and laws of OUR Country they bring the old ways here. Some how this always frustrates me. My ancestors came to America in the 1800’s for a better life too. They were expected to adapt to the American Way of living. Including but not limited to learning English. This one responder states how much better children are raised in Russia. Then why do they not either stay in Russia or return. Heaven Forbid that they would have to live under the conditions here. wow, i have so much to say about this..i will try to keep it short..i am a 1.5 generation, my parents came here for a better life..but they never wanted to burden this great country that let them come, they were so greatful just to be allowed in..that was 33 years ago..so, we never got public assts..NEVER..what really ticks me off is now that i have worked all my life and paid my taxes and never got help..i thought if i really needed it this great country of ours would help but boy was i wrong..help is only for these people that come here and never work and hate this country of ours, i have a friend with a business and i see so many of these people come here and abuse the system..they get so much money from state aid like 800.00 to 1500.00 in food stamps alone..plus they get free health care and cash every month..WHY!!!..then they have the nerve to say this country is not as good as their’s?? but its funny how they come here and keep havin kids so they can get free money..if only all.

On Thursday, December 10, 2009, the Honorable Mary James sentenced Rafael Martinez Ayala, DOB 6/1/60 on nine counts of Delivery of Methamphetamine and two counts of Child Neglect in the First Degree. This case involved a long-term investigation conducted by the Methamphetamine Strike Force, with the collaborative efforts of Salem Police, Oregon State Police, Keizer Police, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, the Department of Justice, the Drug Enforcement Administration, and the Polk Interagency Narcotic Team. During the course of this investigation, this defendant delivered a total of 2 pounds methamphetamine in ten separate deliveries to an undercover police officer. On November 18, 2009, Defendant entered guilty pleas to nine Deliveries and two counts of Child Neglect in the First Degree for his two minor children who lived in his residence while drug related activities were being conducted from the residence.

Of the nine counts defendant pled to, five of the counts were Ballot Measure 57 eligible based upon the quantity of methamphetamine sold in those incidents. The Defendant was sentenced to 269 months in prison.
